At My Best

Every Tuesday night for the next 30 weeks, give or take, I will be participating in a Life Coach Certification Training Course. If the first few weeks are any indication, learning to coach others in living the good life requires much introspection and the willingness to stretch my own thinking, feeling, being, etc. That’s certainly as it shoud be. And I am grateful for the opportunity.

One of my first assignments was to write an essay on “When I was at my Best.” Instead of an essay, this is what came to mind:

My Best

When I was at my best, I appreciated – life, breath, joy, sorrow.

When I was at my best, I relaxed – beach, sky, sand, ocean.

When I was at my best, I applauded – effort, skill, talent, gifts.

When I was at my best, I listened – thoughts, feelings, goals, dreams.

When I was at my best, I accepted – peace, grace, hope, love.

When I was at my best, I released – fear, grief, control, perfection.

When I was at my best, I learned – education, counseling, coaching, living.

When I was at my best, I taught – reading, writing, math, character.

When I was at my best, I honored – God, parents, spouse, children.

When I was at my best, I shared – kindness, compassion, generosity, spirit.

When I was at my best, I celebrated – son, daughter, nieces, friends.

When I was at my best, I loved – husband, family, friends, self.
